ABOUT ME
I'm Rebecca, an artist who grew up in New Zealand with Italian roots - my family moved here from Malta when I was little. My background is a blend of cultures, and I think that sense of contrast and fusion naturally comes through in my art.
After years of working in male-dominated industries, i've found freedom and expression through art. I now live in Waihi, where the coastal light and creative community have become a big source of inspiration. My heartfelt thanks to the Waihi Art Club for welcoming me so warmly - I know my art is a bit mad, but I can't help it!
I love experimenting and trying new things; if I discover a new technique, I have to give it a go. While I mostly paint with acrylics, I often incorporate mixed media elements such as gold foil, ribbons, and stickers. My work often leans toward the abstract, exploring juxtaposition in colour, texture, and theme. I'm drawn to the unexpected - where structure meets chaos, and beauty reveals itself in contrast.
I invite you to explore my work and discover which piece speaks to you - perhaps they'll stir something unexpected, as they so often do for me.
